Playing catch-up on the challenges… #sick #artmustgoon

Summer time

Later, I’ve been a little distracted. My art, yet again, has taken a back seat on this wonderfully unpredictable trip we call life. I don’t often expose my “other” life on my blog, but decided to share with you the reason I am otherwise detained from the creation of art. My twin boys.

Ah motherhood. A full time gig with unusual rewards and very few thank yous. My little men are 4 years old this year, and eager to be even more hands on than usual. The are at reach other’s throats one minute, and inseparable the next. Now that the weather is nice, we are outside constantly soaking up the rays and the dirt.

In January we made out 2016 Bucket List of things we wanted to do and experience this year. As you can imagine, the list is long, and still growing. I too made a list of my own (admittedly most are solo activities), because life is too short to not experience… Well, life. So, this blog might be on a hiatus, or I might be posting quick sketches and doodles. Who knows. I will be back though, when time allows for new artwork. Maybe on a rainy day. 😉

By the Beach

Here is a quick sketch I did last week while my boys were playing on the beach.  This little boy was drinking from the coveted juice box while standing in the water.  He moved quickly, so this was a little challenging to capture him.  It was a really hot and sunny day, and the beach was packed, which is to say stuffed since our beach is uber tiny.  This sketch was done in my moleskin sketchbook with a Micron #3 black ink pen.  Enjoy!

Cow with Corn Painting

Earlier I posted the drawing for this painting, and now, here is the painting! This was done as a custom order and a trade with a friend. She wanted the colors of the sky, fence, and grass to be those of a painting from a Paint and Sip type of class project that she couldn’t attend. She added the corn and the cow.
