Crystal Paul (Eggleston) is a local artist to Upstate New York, living in the country with her twin boys and her boyfriend and his twin boys. She enjoys drawing animals, especially the pets of others, as she herself shares a homestead with two cats, a dog, chickens, and rabbits.

Colored Pencil

Drawings rendered in colored pencil start at $2 per square inch plus materials (this is for the head and chest of the animal – a classic portrait). In this style, the background is left the color of the paper.

5×7 is $70
8×10 is $160
11×14 $308
16×20 $640

For a full portrait of the entire body of the animal with background, the cost is $3 per square inch plus materials. If the background is particularly difficult, there may be an additional cost.

Ink Drawings

Ink drawings are slightly less in cost because they do not take as much time or material, and thus are $2 per square inch for the head and chest of the animal.

5×7 is $50
8×10 is $120
11×14 is $205

For a full portrait of the entire body of the animal with background, the cost is $2 per square inch plus materials. If the background is particularly difficult, there may be an additional cost.
