Toys

A few minutes of uninterrupted time yielded this result: an ink drawing in my sketchbook of my sons’ toy hammer. This is done in Micron black ink, on a smooth paper roughly 9×12. I really like how this came together!

Time Out

Captured one of my little ones still snoozing after a car ride home. He was successfully transfered from car to couch, and is sunken down into his coat. Done with #FaberCastell PITT pen in size B in black in my moleskin sketchbook.

Cat Nap

I might have been the only mother in the world who just wanted a couple of hours alone on Mother’s Day. My husband took my boys to the playground for an hour or so, and I miraculously created this tiny painting. There’s a Member’s show coming up, and I desperately wanted something new to enter into it.

So here is Cat Nap, acrylics on Masonite, 4.5″ x 4.5″. I have to finish up the edges, and maybe fix the ear that bugs me, but only if time allows. I will say, an hour alone with the radio and some paints certainly fixed my mood!

Morning Muffin

While kids were still asleep, I opted to squeeze in a sketch as I ate. Here is Morning Muffin, done in plain #2 pencil in my moleskin sketch book. Enjoy! 😊

Stacked (WIP)

Good morning! Started a little drawing this morning while fending off the kiddos. This was done in my moleskin sketchbook with Micron 03 black ink pen. The reference photo was from stockphotos.com. I’m not sure how I will finish it, either in all ink or with colored pencil?

I’m actually surprised at how well it came out considering the boys were bouncing all around on the couch next to me.  Can you say frustrating?  Of course, I guess I’m the silly one for not getting up and moving to a more “stable” location to draw.

Camping Sketch: Water Bottle

Here is a sketch I did this past weekend while camping with my family.  By some chance I actually had time to sketch twice (a miracle, believe me!).  I enjoyed sketching this bottle, and would have liked to have completed the scene.  The bottle was placed at the end of our picnic table among an identical bottle, and several other items (bug spray, sunscreen, etc).  But, alas, time is short with twin three year old boys, so I stuck to the single bottle.  This was drawn with a Micron 03 black ink in my Moleskin sketchbook, about 5×7, a little longer I think.  Enjoy!

Bicycle Sketch

bicycle sketch

Here is the latest, sorry for the hiatus, things have been busy around here and I spend most of my days outside with my boys.  This is a sketch done with Micron ink black #5 pen in my Moleskin sketchbook.  It’s of a bicycle I picked up on the side of the road for free which the boys argue over.  It has no pedals, and they can barely reach the ground, but it’s still favored.  I can see the obvious mistakes, but the fact that I even got ten minutes without interruption to sketch is a miracle, so I’ll take it.  I may finish it out by adding more cinder blocks (which edge our garden) and maybe something in the background.  Unsure yet.  Enjoy!
